Poetry with Notes

Spent the evening at a place called The Foundry. It is a pseudo-coffee shop here in Omaha with the sole purpose of raising support for worthy causes, there is also a community of Christians who meet there on sunday mornings. I was there tonight with Nicole to hear my friend Nick Flora play, along with Owen Pye. Both very talented musicians who are on tour right now, and are playing Vegas this weekend.

I was reminded tonight how much music stirs my soul, takes me into my own mind, and allows me to see things in so many different ways. Much like poetry has done over the last year, music allows me to express myself, and connect with people in a very real way.

Nick said something tonight that made me sit back and think. He told a story about a gentleman he met who told nick that if he (the gentleman) could go back to when he was 18-19 and started making "adult" decision he would make more decisions based on what he was passionate about and less on what was financial lucrative. I have to agree with him, and the wheels are turning.

Forgive Us...

I am absolutely mortified at what is happening with these people who call themselves Christians. In fact it makes me totally want to disassociate myself from that term so as to not EVER be put in the same category from them. Much like I believe the Islam Extremists have done to the entire nation of Islam, these people have hijacked Christianity and made it into what they wished it to be. Not that we all haven't, but I try my best to hold the integrity of scripture, and am very careful about where I draw extremely harsh lines. And I definitely don't expect anyone who doesn't call him/herself a Christian to live up to, or even hold my same beliefs.

Makes me both sad and angry

peace be with you
